Photo Friday: Hot Air Balloon

Last summer my boyfriend and I made our way to Newquay for Boardmasters Festival. Newquay is a town in the South West of England known to be a surfing hotspot, and Boardmasters Festival is a music festival teamed up with a surf, skate and bmx competition held at the famous Fistral Beach. And so we made the 5 hour journey from London for a week by the sea. Although 5 hours sounds epic, it’s only about an hours drive on the motorway, then 4 hours on country roads. It’s actually a really nice drive, and we spotted this hot air balloon floating over the horizon as we passed Somerset.

The main reason I love this picture: no filters! This is au natural 🙂

Great shot. And surfing hot spot? How cold is the water?

  2. They had a surfing competition while we were there, and it’s one of the more popular surfing spots in the UK. By English standards it was pretty warm…but most people had wetsuits while we were there in August. Although, my boyfriend braved it a couple of times in just shorts and he didn’t mind it too much!
