Although the Louvre is housed in a building steeped in history, one of the most iconic parts of the building is the recent addition of the pyramids. Serving not only as a piece of art in themselves, the main entrance is located just underneath and actually accessed through the large pyramid!
Something I didn’t realise before we visited the Louvre, was that there are in fact three pyramids outside the front of the building, and small pond-type water features dotted around too. It’s very pleasing to the eye, even though it is in stark contrast with the traditional building that surrounds the square. But at least if you have to queue to get into the Louvre you have a few different things to admire.
And so, one of the postcards I picked up from the Louvre just had to be of the pyramids in front of the historic Louvre building!
