The year has flown by, and we are once again nearing upon the festive period. While I usually fit somewhere on the Christmas scale between excited and the grinch, I find myself feeling overly festive whenever I visit somewhere that has gone all out. This is one of the reasons I’m looking forward to going back to Germany this year, and it made me think of all the different ways the lovely city of Berlin filled me with the Christmas spirit. Yes, they have epic amounts of Christmas markets, and they even wrap buildings up like presents. But my favourite festive thing we saw was a tree outside a local church, away from the tourist areas, that had been decked out with christmas lights. Underneath the tree were lots of hanging notes from local children, and upon reading them (and trying my best to translate them) they were Christmas wishes.
Of all the things we saw in Berlin, this was one of my favourite. And one of the reasons I am so excited to be heading back there in 2 weeks!
