Hotel Martin’s Brugge, Bruges

Bruge is a stunning city tucked away in a corner of Belgium. There aren’t a great deal of ‘sights’ to see, but the city itself is lovely to just explore. Everyone I have met who has been to Bruges responds in the same way when I tell them I’ve just been there – ‘ahh…isn’t it lovely? It’s so pretty there!’.

Where would I find it?
Bruges is a city of beauty, and everything is within walking distance. Martin’s Brugge has a fantastic location, slap bang in the middle of the city, just behind the Belfry Tower and Grote Markt. Although the bells rings quite frequently, you can barely hear it, despite the proximity!DSC03029_fotor So the room was like…?
We were staying in the new wing of the hotel, so the room looked like none of those I’d seen on TripAdvisor. I was a bit gutted because the photos had shown wooden beamed ceilings, but as soon as we opened the door to our room I was pleased. Modern, comfortable and just enough space for what we needed.

The double bed was accompanied by a desk, cupboard, safe and fridge. There was also a handy shelf that we could chuck all of our shopping on to get it out of the way. Because of the size of the room, there’s a sliding door to the bathroom. It’s a handy couple of steps from the bed to the bathroom, which is nicely arranged to fit everything you need, including a rather spacious shower. DSC02733_fotor Beds…
Very comfortable, and spacious. The only downside of the bed was that, although already made, we had to remake it each time we got in – it’s never really a problem because at least we can have the sheets as tight as we like. We slept very well while in Bruges, and one night got in early and chilled out to watch TV. Very comfy!

A girl’s got to eat!
As you enter the hotel lobby, the reception is to one side and there’s a bar to the other side. There’s a breakfast room, but with the abundance of restaurants so close to the hotel there’s not much need for a restaurant at the hotel too. It’s about £10 per person per night for breakfast though if you fancy it. DSC02735_fotorAny extras?

Free Wi-Fi! Yay! Aside from that there’s also parking if you happen to need it, but everything is within walking distance so it’s not necessary.

Would I recommend this hotel?
Absolutely! If you’re looking for comfort, a great location and at a reasonable price, this is a great find! I really enjoyed our stay here, and even following the maze of corridors to get to our room was fun! There’s no sterile, straight hallways – just a ton of character! In fact, there are a few other Martin’s hotels elsewhere, and if I visit somewhere with a Martin’s hotel I will definitely look to stay there!

The important stuff!

This one looks really convenient. The modern rooms could easily fit into a four or five star hotel as well. Kind of weird that you had to make your beds by yourself, but apart from that, it really looks great!
