Postcard from…Barcelona

Barcelona was the first city I ever visited on a city break. At the tender age of 21, I thought I’d smashed my experience of Barcelona, but in hindsight it wasn’t until I picked up this postcard that I realised just how much I’d missed out on. Although I had arrived armed with a guide book, it was so boring to read that it barely saw the light of day, and as such I missed out on many of the highlights of the city.

From the fountain show at Montjuic, to the amazing Sagrada Familia, Camp Nou to the wealth of Gaudi architecture, there really is something for everyone in Barcelona. I spent hours wandering the famous Gothic Quarter, pedalled for miles exploring the waterfront and harbour, and climbed what felt like hundreds of steps to get to the top of Camp Nou. The time I spent in Barcelona was amazing, and it kickstarted the endless love I have for Gaudi and his work, fuelled my hunger for tapas and showed me that I was capable of organising a break away and navigating transport in another country. And picking up this postcard served as a reminder of some of the amazing things I saw, and highlighted some sights I need to make sure are on my to-see list next time I am in Barcelona.

Postcard from...Barcelona - sights of Barcelona including Sagrada Familia, Montjuic, Gaudi, markets and the harbour.

I LOVE your blog, as you know I have told you this before! I love the concept, I love your Photo Friday posts. I wanted to ask, I have a piece going live soon on Souvenirs – as in the dilemma of wanting to collect things from abroad, and I hope you don’t mind but I mentioned you in it as a fellow blogger and because of the postcards idea. If it is a problem, please let me know and I can remove you 🙂 all the best.
