My mum and dad live on the edge of a large town. It should technically be a city, but for silly reasons (football team names…), it’s still a town. If you venture 5 minutes away, you’re in the countryside. Farmers land, village pubs and country lanes. I love the hustle and bustle of the city, but nothing relaxes me like a drive down country lanes in the summer, stopping at a village pub for some lunch.
As such, my boyfriend and I explored a number of pubs restaurants in the villages surrounding my hometown. We actually stumbled upon The Rusty Gun on our way back from a camping exhibition and pulled in as we thought it was a farm shop. Upon realising that it was a restaurant, we made a mental note to return another time. Partly because the food looked amazing, partly because they have a huge pig pen where you can feed the piglets!!
When we finally made it back there, we were not disappointed. It had a typical country pub vibe, with the wooden beams, traditional British pub grub and amazing surroundings. We loved it so much, we took my parents back there another time, and they’ve since returned several times with different groups of friends.
