About

Hey!

I’m 27, living in London, England and I love travelling.

When I was 13, family friends came to visit from New Zealand, and it got me thinking that I’d like to go there, and when looking at New Zealand I saw all the other places in the world and all the travel possibilities. I recall somewhat declaring that I was going to go to Australia, and at that age it seemed like the world’s biggest adventure. Over the years, I’ve seen so much more that aiming for one country seems like a waste of a trip, and I now want to experience EVERYTHING!

I’ve well and truly got the travel bug, and I want to see every square inch of the world. I’ve started this blog so people can see what I’m getting up to, share their tips with me, and get, or even give inspiration on places to go! I’m all about getting off the tourist trail and experiencing the culture of a place. My only limit – my budget!

‘Got The Postcard? That’s a bit random isn’t it?’ I hear you say, but let me explain. Ever since I was 17 I’ve bought a postcard whenever I’ve been somewhere. Magnets weren’t an option because I didn’t have anywhere to put them, so…I bought postcards. I’d like to one day have a scrapbook with them all, and they serve as a little reminder of the fun I’ve had so far :).

So, to please my 13 year old self, Australia is the destination. But, as they say, life is about the journey, not the destination.

Should be fun!

I can totally relate to this! Wanting to go everywhere the budget allows. The postcard-idea is great, I think I’m gonna send one home to my family for me from every destination of my RTW trip with a bit of the memories I made in the place.

I love the idea, I have so many post cards! The only negative is that it takes them like 2 weeks to get anywhere from New Zealand or Australia, my two most recent destinations

I actually send postcards to my mom from all the cities that I visit. She has already 3 albums! It’s a great tradition

Save those pennies. Australia and New Zealand are worth it. Especially NZ. You’ll get there.

I love your blog! Especially the title, as I completely understand. I have collected so many postcards from each place that I have visited that I don’t know what to do with them. I want to display them in some way, but there are so many and it is so hard to pick the best ones because I adore them all. I look forward to reading more of your blog πŸ™‚

I also like the idea of getting a postcard, so I have became a postcrossing community member 2 months ago. What do you think about the postcrossing? It is also a way to get a postcard from some nice place.

      • March 19, 2015 / 10:06 pm

I am the postcrossing member for 2 months, that isn’t quite big amount of time, but I have already received 11 postcards from various countries and I like them, and there’s often somebody who sends something very cool if you specify what do you prefer. My friends also enjoy the cards I get.

This is great! My 13 year old self and your 13 year old self would have been best friends! I too share in this travel desire for Australia and New Zealand, and hope one day to find myself there as well.

I can’t remember how I stumbled upon your blog, but I’m so glad that I did. My sister and I are planning our Europe trip with stops to London and Paris and your blog has been adding a lot to my “things I want to see” list.

I also have always collected postcards from wherever I visit…. even if I just travel across to the next city or a nearby seaside town!

I love the blog name! My husband and I send postcards back home to ourselves from wherever we visit. We write something on the back and date it and then look forward to it’s arrival several weeks after getting home!!! When are you planning to come to Australia? It is a beautiful part of the world with so many differing climates and experiences to be had.

    Love your postcard theme!!

When I was a teenager, I started a postcard collection – international summer exchange programs from Canada to Europe led to an explosion of postcards I either bought or friends sent from around the world. But that was in the 80s… and I don’t even know where those cards are now!

Yet there is something about a postcard that triggers memories of place, people and experiences that silly selfies flaunted on FaceBook can’t capture.

Keep enjoying your travels and collecting those postcards!

Did you make it to NZ in the end? That’s my home country and I might be biased but it’s still the best in my opinion πŸ˜‰

i love your blog and am so jealous that you live in England! I also love to travel and have been around the world and seen a lot, however, your site has brought me to places I have not been before and shown me squares, chapels and landmarks that I have never seen before. Keep it up. love it all, including your writing. thank you for sharing your passion.

What a lovely idea for a site. I’m enjoying looking through your collection. I mail postcards to myself from each place I go, so I can really relate to the passion.

    Hi Becky.

How special that in a way New Zealand was the inspiration behind your blog and travel bug. Have you ever been? I’m from the South Island so if you ever need any advice planning a trip let me know πŸ™‚

Thank you so much the like on my blog!!
I thought I would come and have a little snoop around yours, and I LOVE the postcards idea! I have gotten into buying art – wall art – wherever I travel! They take up a lot of space, so something is going to have to change! I have just started my blog recently, so will be following yours πŸ™‚

I have one wall in my bedroom that is heaving with it. It will collapse one day, but that’s cool haha. You should get a competition of the best post cards you get from your followers of the places they’ve visited πŸ™‚

          • February 3, 2016 / 4:13 pm

I write blog posts about language learning if that’s something that would interest you?:) I know it’s difficult to learn a language when you don’t know native speakers in real life but there are a lot of really nice online communities!

Becky, I just dropped by to check out your blog and it’s amazing!! I’m actually planning a trip to London sometime soon. I’m hoping to find a job there too and just leave Canada behind for a bit. Any suggestions?

    • Thank you! There’s so much to see & do in London, but I’d definitely recommend a walk along South Bank, checking out a few of the different markets (Borough market is a personal fav) and although it’s a tourist trap, I love Covent Garden – it’s so pretty, you can do a bit of shopping and enjoy a west end show in the evening πŸ™‚

      • March 29, 2016 / 4:05 pm

Thanks Becky!! I can’t wait to get over there. Hopefully I will be able to find a job first.
